All illustrations are the work of Lucien Pissarro, with the blocks engraved by both Lucien and Esther Pissarro, and the cover papers designed and engraved by Esther Pissarro.

It should be noted that the book itself was designed by Lucien and Esther Pissarro with the type and blocks set together and the finished work proofed and editioned all by Lucien and Esther Pissarro; the book was printed and issued by the Vale press under the imprint of Hacon and Ricketts.

French language poetry of Francois Villon (1431- c.1463) and members of his school. Villon was one of the greatest French lyirc poets of the Late Middle Ages whose work speaks with a marvelous directness about love and death, revealing a deep compassion for the suffering of humanity.

Autres Poesies de Maistre Francois Villon & de son Ecole was one of 32 titles produced by the Eragny Press during its 20 years of operation, and only one of 13 Ergany titles printed at the Vale Press, which were issued in French to attract continental collectors.

The Eragny Press was founded in 1894 by Lucien and Esther Pissarro and named it for the Pissarro family's home village in Normandy, Éragny-sur-Epte. Eragny books are known for their hand-made high quality and their skillful combination of French and English aesthetics, where English Arts & Crafts design melded with the French impressionistic interest in color, light and sensations after nature. A very good unopened copy with some tanning; light rubbing to the spine that becomes moderate at the head and foot; light to moderate offsetting to the endpapers. An exceptionally scarce work.

Ransom, Eragny 9; Tomkinson, Eragny 10.
