The Cotter's Saturday Night is one of Burns' best known works other than his songs. It is a poem that tells the story of a hard working cotter (also cottager) - a farm laborer who, tired at the end of a week’s work, is looking forward to his Saturday evening and is enthusiastically welcomed home by his small children. Once indoors beside the fireside and amongst his wife and family his worries are left behind.

This particular issue is the first illustrated issue of The Cotter's Saturday Night outside of the collected editions of Burns published in the years prior to publication of the present volume.

A very good + copy with offsetting to the endpapers; a few isolated instances of foxing and faint wear to the corners and a contemporary Christmas inscription on the front fly leaf.

Scarce with the cloth binding exceptionally scarce for this issue.
