Art Nouveau binding design in green, gold and red on cream colored cloth of titles, a foliated border and a diapered pattern of ribbon-tied holly leaves and berries. Cover design repeated on the rear board. Spine with titles in gold and the cover design motif again in red and green. t.e.g.

Includes frontis. and 5 additional full page color illustrations, each with decorated borders.

Gale's Christmas story of Old Trail Town, which was was too poor to celebrate Christmas. The town voted to dispense with all gift making and celebration since they had not yet paid for the presents bought the previous year. When the motherless nephew of one of the townspeople arrive at his Aunt's home on Christmas eve, the town found that in making him welcome, they found a renewed spirit of Christmas within themselves.

Gale was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1921 for her play "Miss Lulu Bett", which she adapted from her novel of the same name.

A very good + copy with slight rubbing to the rear board; offsetting from the illustration color borders to the opposite pages. Not in PBO, Minsky or UNCG.
