The story of a child who disappears during the Civil War, and is brought up by two African American women who retain their loyalty to the child's mother and father. Much of the dialogue includes dialects found in the American South.
A scarce Peabody binding design of a design informed by both the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts sensibilities.
A near fine copy. In the original good dust jacket with chipping to the edges and lacking a 2 3/8” x 3/8” piece of the upper spine panel. Scarce; exceptionally so in this condition, and in the dust jacket. Minsky 1:48; UNCG 1904 STUR; PBO.pba02918.bib.
