A 'ready reckoner' is a book of tables that contains pre-calculated values for determining the cost of articles and interest as well as foreign currency rates. This particular 'ready reckoner' in German fraktur script, contains tables that provide the value of the currency of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland and a table showing the relative value of foreign money in various states of the United states including North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia &c.

An important tool in the history of early American economics. 'Ready reckoners' were necessary tools at a time when sales were often made on the fly and a quick means of calculating interest and determining the cost of goods sold was a necessity.

A good + copy with a start to the top front joint and to the bottom rear joint; a 1/4” strip missing at the top margin of ffep and front flyleaf (no loss); rubbing chipping to the top margin of the title page; light toning and faint scattered foxing.

An exceptionally scarce instance of an early American "ready reckoner"; OCLC shows only 6 copies worldwide. ESTC, W19357; Early American Imprints, 32127; Bötte, 1096.
