Alice Morse Moorish-style binding design in pale green, pale pink and gilt on white cloth; Moorish-style end papers and decorative border designs also by Ms. Morse. Includes the scarce paper lined blue-grey cloth dust jackets with titles stamped in gold on each spine.

Each volume includes 15 photogravure illustrations after Richard H. Lawrence, each with a captioned tissue guard; deckle edge; original ribbon markers; t.e.g.

First published in 1850, this Irving classic describes the struggle of Castilian sovereigns Ferdinand and Isabella against the Kingdom of Granada, leading to the Conquest in 1492.

A very good+ set with three isolated faint stains on the rear board of volume II, and a small light mark on the upper spine of volume I. In very good paper-lined cloth dust jackets with light edge wear and some light scratches to the front panel of the dust jacket for volume 1. Scarce; exceptionally so with the set intact and in this condition. Dubansky 93-2.
