8vo (6¼” x 9"). pp. 325. Unsigned binding design on narrow, diagonally ribbed brick-red cloth of an aboriginal Blackfoot arrow-head necklace in black and gold. Spine with titles in gold and an aboriginal circular design in black and gold.

Includes frontis. and 69 additional vignette and full page illustrations by Frederic Remington.

In 1890, Harper commissioned Remington and his long-time friend, the popular travel-writer, Julian Ralph, to do a series of illustrated articles on Northwestern Canada, which appeared in Harper's Magazine throughout 1891 and 1892. The articles were then collected into the present volume.

A fine copy with faint rubbing to the extremities. Scarce in this condition.
