Tales of the Punjab is a collection of Punjabi folk tales told for children collected by Mrs. Steele while a Government inspector in the Punjab during the time of the British Raj. John Lockwood Kipling, the father of author Rudyard Kipling, worked as an illustrator, teacher and museum curator in the Punjab during the same period as Mrs. Steele.
