White eps stamped with a green floral pattern Includes frontis. portrait of Alcott with facsimile inscription as well as two additional illustrations and a facsimile of Miss Alcott's writing and a facsimile of the preface to the new edition of Alcott's Modern Mephistopheles. A collection of Alcott's letters and journals, along with a brief biography by Cheney published the year following Alcott's death. Cheney was close Alcott family friend and was the sole woman lecturer in Bronson Alcott's Concord Summer School of Philosophy and Literature. The first printing with p. 44 ending in ...with Goethe.
