Books in paper-backed blue cloth dust jackets with titles on the spine in gold; with original blue cloth covered slipcase with titles printed on gold on the top panel. Jackson’s classic tale of the marginalized Native Americans in California based on her own report to the Federal Government entitled, The Century of Dishonor, in which Jackson detailed the appalling conditions faced by California Native tribes. Considered by Gullans and Espey to be one of Sacker's two masterpieces (the other being Captain Fracasse, L.C. Page,1901), this scarce set is in wonderful condition. Near fine copies of both volumes with a hint of tarnish to the gold rule on the front boards near the spine. In near fine dust jackets that have a touch of rubbing to the top and bottom edges from movement in and out of the slipcase. In a very good slip case with rubbing to the cloth on the side panels; the flap that attaches one side panel to the rear panel has detached from the rear panel and includes cracking to the cloth in the corner; the flap that attaches the bottom panel to the rear panel has detached from the rear panel; the flap that attaches the other side panel to the rear panel is started.
