8vo (5½" x 7¾"). pp. 142. Signed Arts & Crafts binding design of a planet and a galaxy within a horizontal panel across the top of the front board, and titles above and below the panel all in silver. A book of lyric poetry whose title poem conveys Sterling's sense of wonder and awe at the vastness of the cosmos. Initially published by published by W. E. Wood in 1903, and released as a second edition in 1904 by A. M. Robertson. Robertson issued the book again in 1907 as the majority of the second edition was destroyed in the fire that followed the San Francisco earthquake in April,1906.
A handsome copy of a striking Arts & Crafts cover design whose lettering shows possible influence from Sarah Wyman Whitman (note the high-wasted sans-serif lettering and the roman "U" in "SUNS"). Scarce with this design in this condition.
