Searles with titles and a rising sun in gilt framed by two trees with Celtic knotted roots in black on bright green cloth. A portion of the tree and sun design and titles repeated in black and gold on spine. Frontis. and eight full page illustrations by Louis F. Grant. Very Good with missing ffep and faint rubbing to the extremities. Black Rock is a tale set in the Canadian Rockies of 1882 and is based on a story of pioneering Canadians he met while serving as a missionary in the Western Canadian frontier during a time of economic expansion and migration. Victor A. Searles was an illustrator and book designer from Boston active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
