Includes black and white frontis. and 3 additional black and white full page illustrations by William Ottman. Written by a then prominent member of the Chicago Bar, is a detective story and romance about a young lawyer wrongfully charged with the murder of his client and sentenced to hang. It includes unusual questions of law, and ethical dilemmas interwoven with a detailed legal disquisition against the death penalty. A lovely copy of this unusual binding design. Scarce in this condition.
