Signed binding design by Amy Sacker in gold on pale green silk cloth of stylized iris placed horizontally on the cover with titles beneath the first and forth iris; titles and smaller iris motif in gold on the spine. Considered by Gullans an Espey to be Sacker's masterpiece. The swashbuckling story of Baron de Sigognac, an impoverished Gascon nobleman, who decides to join a group of travelling players and takes the name Captain Fracasse.
A lovely set of Sacker's magnum opus, with sun fading to the spine and joints as usual for the silk binding cloth used. GE 1979:60; Extremely Scarce.
