Second printing. C8vo (7 ¼" x 5 ¼"). pp. xxv; 477. Introduction by Austin Dobson. Unsigned publisher’s binding with an Art Nouveau sensibility by Hugh Thomson in smooth green cloth gold stamped with titles and Evelina beneath a tree with falling leaves; spine stamped in gold with titles and floral decorations; cream end papers; a.e.g. Frontis. with tissue guard and over 70 b/w line block illustrations by Hugh Thomson, including headpieces, tailpieces, historiated initials and textual vignettes – another tour de force of Thomson's delicate interpretation of the 18th Century.

A very good copy of this book with light fading to spine, faint foxing to the endpapers and light rubbing to the extremities. A lovely, bright book. Part of the Macmillan Cranford Series. Balston I 21; Rogerson 21.
