Laid paper.The Historical Printing Club (1876 to 1902) was founded 8 years in advance of the Grolier Club by Gordon L. Ford (publisher of the NY Tribune) and his sons. Of the over 70 publications produced by this club until its demise, the majority were previously unpublished or practically unobtainable historical or bibliographic documents regarding the early political or military history of the United States. They were edited either by Paul Leicester Ford or his brother, Worthington Chauncey Ford. This title, which contains the text of letters from William Lee, Slias Deane and Benjamin Franklin are of such scholarly import that it is still being reprinted today. Age toning and chipping to edges and spine ends, other wise a tightly bound copy with most pages still unopened. Growoll 44.
