Publication of a dissertation regarding blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. The dissertation defence by Johann Samuel Hitchel took place on 17 August 1740 against the arguments of his theology professor, Siegmund Jakob Baumgarten (1706-1757) at the University of Halle, in Germany. Baumgarten was a Protestant transitional theologian whose pioneering work led the way toward rationalsim. Slight creasing to corners and rubbing to head and tail of spine, otherwise in beautiful condition.
