Adam's expression of delight in nature as seen in the Berkshires, which is imbued with feeling for the people and places of Western Massachusetts. An ingenious binding design by Thayer, which shows a series of stylized waterlilies with knotted stems rising from buds at the foot of the design through the "water" within a "shell", which opens when the waterlilies reach the top of the design; Thayer places the viewer underwater as the waterlilies rise to the surface.
