The engravings at pp. 16, 28 and 45 are in the rare first state as per Cohn. A romantic retelling of the tragic tale of Lady Jane Grey (Lady Jane Dudley following her marriage) and her 9 day reign as queen of England.A very good copy with light rubbing to the extremities; toning to the verso of the engravings and the occasional instance of light foxing. with the bookplate of Robert C. May C.E. (of Orwell Lodge, Clapham Park, London) on the front pastedown and Marinus Willet Dominick on the ffep. Cohn 14 and Sadleir 31.
