Vol: II: pp. 498. frontis. and 15 photogravure illustrations of historic art work each with captioned tissue guard. Includes original slipcase, cloth dust jackets, and ribbon markers. Signed Margaret Armstrong binding design in gold of a repeated key design surrounding titles within a scroll on scarlet cloth. Spine with repeated crown design surrounded by flourishes repeated on the spine of the matching scarlet paper-lined cloth dust jackets. The original slipcase is in a darker red cloth with the titles and Armstrong's key design surrounded by a circle of four crowns on the top panel.A very good + set in very good dust jackets and very good slipcase. Darkening to the foot of the spine of Vol. I; detached ribbon marker in vol. II. Both books have the contemporary ownership mark of G. A. Davenport and the later ownership stamp of A. Rutherford Davenport. The very good dust jackets both have fading and spotting to the spine panels and wear to the head of both spine panels; the dust jacket of vol. I has some rubbing wear to the extremities. The very good slip case has moderate general wear that is more concentrated at the extremities. GE 25. Scarce as a complete set and in the dust jackets and case.
