Signed Albert Angus Turbayne binding design of titles and of flowing, curvilinear thistle buds, stems and leaves in gold on green bookcloth embossed as "patterned sand" (San4 in Krupp, Bookcloth in England and America). Titles and cover motif repeated in gold on spine. The cover motif is reIncludes frontis. and 23 additional full page black and white illustrations by Charles Brock. a.e.g. Sir Walter Scott's narrative poem of Scotland in six cantos each representing the events of a single day. The three main plot lines are the contest between three men to win the love of Ellen Douglas; the feud and reconciliation of King James V of Scotland and James Douglas; and a war between the lowland Scots, led by James V, and the highland clans. A very good + copy with faint rubbing to the extemities, offsetting to both ffeps and a prize plate on the ffep from the RSPCA. An exceptionally scarce Turbayne binding design.
