An unsigned Margaret Armstrong binding design in brown, pale yellow, dark green and gold on green rough linen weave cloth; with decorated half-title and title page with decorations and borders in pale green and/or black on every page, all by Armstrong. Includes frontis.and 48 additional illustrations after photographs. Poems about African American family life in the antebellum South written in the dialect associated with that period and place.

A striking copy of a Margaret Armstrong masterwork with some slight tarnishing to the upper portion of the gold in the design. Extremely scarce in this condition. GE 80.
