8vo (5" x 8"). pp.373 + 4pp. publisher's advts. Revised and Enlarged Edition. Signed Margaret Armstrong binding design of a flowering topiary with a banner winding around its stem inside a decorated border in pale green and silver on brown linen weave cloth. The second of two bindings Miss Armstrong created for the editions of this book. Includes 152 black and white illustrations (52 new illustrations over the previous edition) by Marion Satterlee. A description of more than 450 varieties of wild flowers, classified by color. A lovely copy of a structured but simultaneously fluid Armstrong binding design whose silver elements immediately draw the eye.

Light soiling to the edges and occasional finger soiling to the text. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt re-released this book (retaining the Armstrong cover) in 1989. GE 70; Minsky I:80. Scarce in this binding and in this condition.
