Arts & Crafts style cover design, frontis. and 4 additional illustrations on Japan vellum by Walter Enright. Printed in Caslon Old Style with rubricated title page and headlines. Floriated initial letters by Harry Everett Townsend that were hand illuminated by Barbara Peattie. A beautiful production in impeccable contition.

Large 4to (9" x 12"). pp. [i - vii]; 1- 57. Limited edition of 500 copies on handmade paper. Olive green cloth over light grey card stock with titles stamped in gold on front board and spine. Full page wood cut title page in black and red, head pieces, tail pieces, floriated initial letters, historiated initial letters and full page illustrations with elaborate ornamental borders by Harold Nelson. A striking example medieval illustration in the Arts & Crafts style showing the influences of both Albrecht Durer and William Morris. Deckled edge paper. A very nice copy with bright, clean pages, light foxing to the endpapers, sunning to the edges of the boards, light rubbing to the spine and corners and a slight warp to the outer edge.
