R8vo (6¾” x 10"). 16pp. unpaginated. Souvenir booklet with light brown stablebound wraps with titles and photographic illustrations in dark brown. Illustrated througout with photographs with descriptive captions of the buildings and exhibits of the great Jamestown Ter-Centennial Exhibition, which celebrated the 300th anniversary of the first permanent English settlement on the American continent, which ran from April 26th to November 30th, 1907. Photographs include visitors to the fair, clearly showing the fashions of the time. One in a series of exhibitions celebrating the history of America at the turn of the century, The Jamestown Exhibition included exhibits on arts and technology from all states of the union at the time, large military and naval exhibits as well as representation from 20 different nations showcasing arts and technology. In 1917 the exposition site became home to Naval Air Station Hampton Roads (later Naval Station Norfolk). Near fine with faint creasing to the rear cover.

C8vo (7.75” x 5.25”). Unpaginated gift book. Early reprint of 1913 Bobbs-Merrill publication. Grey cloth boards with titles and double fillet border in dark blue; titles on spine also in dark blue. 11 full page illustrations in two colors by Howard Chandler Christy with Arts & Crafts landscape decorations printed in red on every page by Bertha Stewart. A near fine copy in a near fine pictorial dust jacket by Howard Chandler Christy. Scarce in this condition. Howard Chandler Christy (1873 - 1952) was an illustrator famous for his “Christy Girl”, a society girl image similar to a “Gibson Girl”. He studied under William Merritt Chase and started his artistic career as a combat artist during the Spanish-American war. Later he moved to book and magazine line illustration and painted in his later years. In 1940, his mural “Scene at the Signing of the Constitution of the United States” was installed in the US Capitol Building and is still on display there. was illustrator famous for his “Christy Girl”, a society girl image similar to a “Gibson Girl”. She later worked as an interior designer and bookplate designer.
