12mo (4" x 6"). pp.43. Signed binding design by T. B. Meteyard in two tones of textured silver of a narrow marsh that runs toward the sea within a panel on the left side of the cover. Signed with Meteyard's tortoise in the lower right quadrant of the design. Titles in silver above and below the panel. A small seahorse in silver on the rear board. A series of seven poems that reflect Carman's feelings about his winter holidays. 5 poems are about Carman's warm and colorful experiences in the Bahamas, while December Scituate and Winter at Tortoise Shell are about Carman's visit to Scituate, Massachusetts. A striking copy with some loss of paper at the head of the spine, and slight rubbing to the design. Finlay 52.

S4to (8" x 9"). pp. 318. Unsigned binding design in gold on blue canvas cloth with white canvas onlay. Includes frontis. and 54 additional illustrations in b/w by W. C. Jackson. A history for boys of the American Navy during the Civil War. A stunning and quite evocative binding of a tall ship sail and its rigging with titles designed to look as if made from rope, and the sail made from a cream canvas onlay to give dimensionality to the design.

A handsome copy with rubbing to the extremities and rear board and a small (1/8") chip in the cloth at the lower right corner. Scarce in this binding and in this condition. PBO.pba02502.bib.
